Jingle bells! Jingle bells! Jingle all the way! Oh, Yes what a jolly song to hear when the holiday is coming.
As the Philippines celebrated the Holidays starting September where you can see different decorations in all houses and streets, it's when kids and kids at heart also starting to sing Christmas carols. Christmas is a charming and memorable season for children, and it is perfectly fair for aware adults to enjoy glittering lights, candles, decorated trees, presents, and family feasts.
I remember the days when I was a kid. My friends and I made tambourine using a bottle cap. We flattened it with stone and put a hole in the center to combine with wire. That's our way of making our song lively when we sing in front of our neighbor's house. In return, they will give us any amount of money as Christmas present or we called it "aguinaldo".
Aside from singing Christmas songs, we also attended the 9 mornings (Misa de Gallo) or Simbang Gabi. As the old saying goes like when you finished the 9 days of mass, make a wish and it will come true. Kids love the idea that one wish will be fulfilled.
Before Christmas day comes, some parents were in a rush to buy food for the family Noche Buena, some buy gifts and some buy clothes. The tradition of dressing up during the Holiday season still going on. From head to foot, we buy new kinds of stuff. In my experience, that's the only season we get to have new clothes and footwear. Because on Christmas day, we go to our relatives and godparents to greet them a Merry Christmas and kiss the elder's hand in respect or greetings. Until now that I have my own children, the tradition persists. We continue what elders taught us.

On that day, everybody dressed up, receiving gifts - in cash or in-kind, eating delicious foods, comforting themselves with joining games, and enjoy telling stories of their lives with laughter and tears. Meeting new faces of relatives. Family reunited.
When we remember a special Christmas, it is not the presents that made it special, but the laughter, the feeling of love, and the togetherness of friends and family.
Take time in this busy season to remember the reason for the season - the birth of Jesus.
The day when kids and everyone enjoy the best time of their lives.

Thank you so much for sharing your childhood Christmas memories! I loved reading them :) I don't have kids but the products you mentioned I would definitely have loved when I was a child! :)

I love the Christmas Eve and the Christmas day because my family have tradition, enjoying together in company and tell stories. I agree online shopping is ideal if you want to avoid all hassle in the malls. In some ways I love to go into the malls and buy it personally but not in last minute ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute stuf. I don't have kids, but some of these things could be really nice gift for little queen :D :D
