Located in the interior of Alaska, America's 'Last Frontier,' Denali National Park and Preserve is home to Mount Denali, the highest peak on the continent soaring 20,310 feet into the sky. It's a great place for a wilderness vacation, providing opportunities for outdoor adventure among magnificent scenery as well as wildlife watching. As the habitats here are diverse, with forest in the lower elevations, tundra in the middle, rock, snow, and glaciers at the highest, there are many different animals that can be spotted here. You'll see caribou herds roaming through the park, Dall sheep climbing steep mountainsides, moose feeding on aquatic plants in lakes and swamps, while black and grizzling bears frequently roam through the meadows.
Honolulu, Hawaii
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Honolulu offers it all when it comes to beautiful beaches and attractions. Waikiki is its world-famous beach and the hub of Oahu, providing countless things to see and do, including surfing, sunbathing, shopping, dining and more. You can also delve into America's history by visiting Pearl Harbor. The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor is the No. 1 visitor attraction in the state. This is the very place where World War II began for America on December 7, 1941. You'll be standing over a gravesite where nearly 1,200 men lost their lives. With so much on offer in this city, you might even want to check out the Honolulu real estate for a second home or even a year-round residence.
San Francisco, California
If you're looking for city delights, San Francisco offers a wealth of attractions along with world-class eats and shopping. Take a stroll across the 1.7-mile span of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, hop on a ferry to tour Alcatraz, the formidable prison that once held the likes of Al Capone and George "Machine Gun" Kelly, and ride a trolley up and down the steep hills. There are beautiful beaches to enjoy like Baker Beach, a great place for views and photographs of the bridge, while Golden Gate Park is home to museums like the California Academy of Sciences, one of the world's largest and most impressive natural history museums.
The Outer Banks, North Carolina
This chain of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina is an ideal place to enjoy a budget-friendly beach vacation. It's a beachgoers paradise, with the opportunity to enjoy everything from surfing and kayaking to paddleboarding. Cape Hatteras National Seashore hosts the Atlantic coasts' tallest sand dune as well as one of the country's most famous lighthouses, while The Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores is a popular attraction for families offering encounters with an albino sea turtle and playful otters. All that and you can rent a multi-bedroom vacation home for a week for less than you'd spend on most hotel rooms.
